The Chase

Ben Casey
Co-founder and Creative DirectorBefore establishing The Chase in Manchester in 1986, Ben spent many years in education, developing degree courses for graphic design and lecturing and moderating at various colleges and universities.
He was appointed Head of The School of Graphic Design at the University of Central Lancashire in 1983 and, subsequently, helped to found the School of Communications Arts in London.
Over the years Ben has been invited onto the boards and steering committees of some of the country’s most respected and influential design advisory panels – most with a substantial educational remit and all entirely voluntary. These include the British Design Council’s Design Skills Advisory Panel; the City of Manchester’s Creative Panel and the Chairmanship of the British Design & Art Director’s Club’s Education Group.

In 2003 Ben was appointed Professor of Visual Communication at The University of Central Lancashire.
Ben set up The Chase in Manchester in 1986 to offer a credible, regional alternative to London’s brightest and best design consultancies. Since then, The Chase has opened offices in London and Preston and has earned an outstanding reputation for creative excellence.
In 2004, The Chase was ranked 2nd most creative agency in the UK and is now one of an elite band of companies to have had work accepted by D&AD in each of its 18 years of existence.
Ben has won numerous creative awards including The Grand Award for Creativity at The New York Festival of Advertising & Print.
Ben has also chaired and directed judging juries for all the major UK creative awards and many international ones.

The most valuable lesson ever learned about the effectiveness of graphic communication was to spend a long day with a Yorkshire Water engineer in a white van fixing broken drains on council estates: meet your audience. Currently writing a novel about life survival after failing the eleven-plus exam (twice) in 1950s Britain.
