Johnny Hannah
The Captain's Alphabet is Jonny Hannah's portfolio of twenty-eight original screen prints for a nautical alphabet. Jonny is one of the most original and exciting illustrators to have graduated from the Royal College of Art in the past few years. His work has been quickly recognised by the design establishment and is now making its mark in the wider world. The Captain's Alphabet is published in association with the artist's own private imprint the Cakes & Ale Press.
Jonny Hannah was born in Scotland in 1971. He graduated from The Royal College of Art in 1998. While still at the College he published a number of artist's books under the Cakes & Ale imprint. He has done notable work for Bloomsbury, Penguin, the Daily Telegraph and the Independent on Sunday. He has had one man exhibitions at the Colville Gallery and the Groucho Club in London. He designed the animated film The Man with the Beautiful Eyes that won the 2000 BAFTA award for best animation.
